Ford’s U.S. Sales by Sierra
The article that I chose to explore and analyze was a piece called Ford’s U.S. Sales Increase 32% in June, Outpacing Broader Industry that is shown in the business portion of the Wall Street Journal. The article can be found at https://www.wsj.com/articles/fords-u-s-sales-increase-32-in-june-outpacing-broader-industry-11657034435 I picked this article because my family has always looked down upon Fords as they are unreliable in their experience. My next car is going to be a truck and will have to be able to pull horse trailers and such. I have looked into getting a Ford 250 and love the Ford Raptors and wanted to see if they are improved and more reliable or why sales have increased so much!
The article explains that the company has indeed made improvements, specifically to their SUVS, and their trucks! But the company hasn't always been improving. Sales were down at the beginning of this year and were very low. Within the past year they have had issues with stock drops and immense inventory lows. They faced the inventory problems with increasing prices which brought down sales even more. After recovering, the truck sales beat out their closest competitor by 40,000, making trucks the biggest seller of all of their vehicles. They also show the rise in sales of their new product launch of their several models of electric values. I was particularly interested in learning more about the electric, 'lightning', truck, as it is a product that is not super commonly produced and sold on the market, as it is a new idea and new science developments. The motto is "say goodbye to gas," which I feel is an amazing selling point with the insane gas prices currently.
Ford was one of the first successful car companies and one of the very few to make it out of the Great Depression. They always seemed to value pleasing their customers, and it is shown in their value proposition, "To help build a better world, where every person is free to move and pursue their dreams." I liked learning this about the company and it sways me to think of how the company markets to their customers in a personable way and truly wants the best for them and for them to be happy with their purchase. I am excited to know the improvements in not only the line of trucks, but the entirety of their vehicle selection, introduction of electric cars, and also the improve in branding.
